Final Hobbit Blog

In the beginning of the story, Bilbo baggins lives an easy, laid back life in his house. But then Gandalf comes, and thats the start of the adventure. dwarves come, and convince Bilbo to come on an adventure with him, they travel all over the palce and end up at the lonely Mountain. After the fight over the gold, between dwarves elves and men, and Goblins and warg armies (The battle of the five armies) Bilbo gets a share of the treasure and heads back to his housae.

My favorite part in this story the very end, during the battle. I enjoyed that part becasue i could actually see it going on in my head. J.R.R Tolkeins writing style is very unique, because there is in some parts, alot of foreshadowing to the end, or near the end of the book. I don't like this style, personally, becasue it seems to reveal to much of what will happen. That is just my opinion.

Hobbit

I like the Hobbit. I am at the part were they finally got to the mountain, but they woke the dragon Smaug. To me, this book doesn't compare to other books, but it is still pretty good.

Mary Oliver

The first poem "Wild Geese" reminds me of a song calld "Surrender Saved My Life." What I liked about this poem was that there were phrases that were very descriptive. These include phrases like "you do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting". This is descriptive because it tells something, or how someone is doing something.
I also liked the poem "A Visitor". This poem describes what a person did, in my opinion of the poem, by ignoring his father. If themain character had actually loved his father, then they would have had a good relationship, but instead, the main character ignored his father, and not until the end of the poem did they see love in each other's eyes.

Reading - The Hobbit

My first impressions of The Hobbit is that I think it will be a good book. I've just gotten to the part where all of the dwarves come to Bilbo's hole in the hill, but I still think it will be a good book. I found interesting so far that Gandalf put a marking on Bilbo's door, but Bilbo never saw it, and is trying to convince the dwarfs that there was never a mark on his door. I am enjoying this novel, though I haven't read very much. J.R.R. Tolkein's writing style is very different than most books that I've read. There are in some places over explaining, in my opinion. I am making no connections with my self and this novel yet.
